1 - Accordion section

Accessing treatment involves far more than simply receiving it or securing funding for it. It also entails understanding one’s condition, taking ownership of the treatment, and adopting long-term habits that support good health.
With this in mind, Sothema has made therapeutic education a cornerstone of its corporate social responsibility strategy. By placing the patient at the heart of its approach, the company aims to foster patient autonomy, improve treatment adherence, and ultimately optimize clinical outcomes, particularly in the management of chronic diseases.
This initiative mobilizes the entire healthcare ecosystem, uniting healthcare professionals, hospitals, and local stakeholders around a shared goal: empowering every patient to take an active role in their own health.

Convinced that the fight against cancer starts with better information and early diagnosis, Sothema works alongside other healthcare players to raise awareness of prevention — particularly among women. Each year, the Group supports campaigns around major pathologies such as breast cancer, in partnership with associations and medical centers.
This includes organizing free screenings and supporting solidarity events that promote the importance of early diagnosis. Beyond ensuring access to oncology treatments, the Group backs initiatives that improve patients' well-being and quality of life throughout their care journey.

An innovative treatment only fully delivers on its promise if it actually reaches the patient. Driven by this conviction, Sothema established its Market Access division in 2024, moving into the operational rollout phase in 2025.
This initiative reflects Sothema’s commitment to going beyond mere market launch by taking concrete action regarding the conditions under which treatments are accessed. The division’s mission is to remove barriers hindering patient access to medicines by acting as a liaison between health authorities, healthcare professionals, payers, and healthcare system partners. The goal is to anticipate and overcome obstacles related to the reimbursement and accessibility of innovative therapies, while balancing the budgetary constraints of payers with the economic realities faced by patients.
For particularly costly treatments, such as those for oncology, hematology, or autoimmune diseases, Sothema partners with specialized providers to implement eligibility-based access programs that cover all or part of the patient's out-of-pocket costs.
These programs offer a tangible solution for patients in precarious situations or with inadequate coverage, help prevent treatment discontinuation due to financial constraints, and foster greater equity in access to care.

Convinced that healthcare is a fundamental right, Sothema Group has long demonstrated its commitment to solidarity with African populations beyond its own borders. Through its subsidiary WAPH and a network of local partners, the Group operates in Senegal, Benin, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Côte d'Ivoire, organizing medical caravans that reach communities with limited access to healthcare, reflecting a vision of medicine built on proximity and accessibility.
This commitment extends beyond healthcare, including the distribution of food baskets during Ramadan and participation in well-drilling projects in Benin. Through these initiatives, Sothema reaffirms its dedication to sustainable action for the well-being of local communities.
